About Us

The Common Thread Community is a ministry that was started to encourage and facilitate like-minded individuals to labor in community for the resources to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord began to stir this vision through Christ’s teaching in Luke 16 on the “Parable Of The Dishonest Manager.” It can be seen in short, as an effort to take every resource that He has graciously given us, and use them up for His glory! The purpose of Common Thread flows from Ecclesiastes 4:12, “And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him- a threefold cord is not quickly broken” and also 1 Corinthians 12:12, “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.” While Common Thread does accept donations, we are striving to lead out and teach what Paul taught in 1 Thessalonians 2:9, “For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.”

Vision:

One of the immediate focuses for the outpouring of The Common Thread Community’s resources is to acquire a community house in the Birmingham/Southside area. The purpose of this house is to be centrally located to College Campuses of the Birmingham area and engage in developing community, specifically targeting the International Community. UAB alone boasts approximately 1,900 internationals from about 80 different countries. Common Thread believes that engaging international students while they are in Birmingham is a beautiful and perhaps most efficient way to take the Gospel to the nations; as well as, building relationships to go with a student to their home country and teach the Gospel.

Offerings:

Common Thread currently has two offerings for people to labor with us: Seeds Coffee Company, and Indelible Worship. We believe in the vision of these offerings and how they intertwine with Common Thread.

Seeds Coffee Company

Seeds Coffee Company, as the name suggests, is a coffee company. Why coffee? Two main reasons Common Thread has started a coffee company are: we have met several men who are talented in the art of coffee roasting (most importantly they are passionate about the Gospel) and coffee is an international symbol of community. Common Thread prays for the opportunity to visit farms, establish relationships with the farmers, and plant churches in those regions. We roast Fairly Traded Organic coffee to sell to anyone who desires a fresh cup of coffee. Seeds intentionally purchases fairly traded coffee in accordance with James 5:4, “Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.” This specifically, for Seeds, means we are ensuring that the farmers we indirectly purchase from are directly getting a fair wage for their product. Indelible Worship

Indelible Worship was formed in 2011 as a worship ministry of The Common Thread Community. Taking our cue from 2 Corinthians 3, we seek to be transformed into the image of God from one degree of glory to another. Our mission is to capture the Spirit’s yearnings within the people of God through the expression of music and permanently etch them in our hearts for His glory. Indelible Worship is led by Clearwater Community Church worship pastor, Taylor McCall, along with various other talented musicians and vocalists who seek to use their gifts for the glory of God. In September of 2011, Indelible Worship released their debut album, titled Glory to Glory, which was recorded live at CCC on June 10, 2011. Indelible Worship is also currently in development of The Indelible Project, an endeavor designed to facilitate the memorization of Scripture through music.
